After a couple of plays UNH has it 1st and 10 on our 38 yard. On the next play, a WR gets behind our secondary so wide open the WR could have called a fair catch after the Qb lofted the ball to him. A very disappointing play to me.
The score is now 13-42. After the score and following kickoff, we do absolutely nothing with the ball and have to punt. UNH gets the ball on their 38 and begins driving again. We are playing a lot of backups on defense now and they make a good effort to keep UNH out of the endzone.
On 3rd and goal, they handed off to the runningback who was hit in the backfield losing his helmet, then he fought his way into the endzone. Both Richard Mitchell and I questioned the official who was in front of us about this play. We both remember the game at Sam Houston in 2004 where Henry Smith caught a long pass, had his helmet ripped off by a defender, and then managed to continue on into the endzone for an apparent TD. The play was called back and the ball was placed where his helmet came off. The explanation was that the play was automatically dead when the ball carriers helmet came off. I guess the rule has been changed since then or the officials chose to ignore the rule. Not that it meant a hill of beans being as the game was totally out of hand by then.

We eventually turn the ball over on downs at the UNH36. They go 3 and out and they have to punt. After two false start penalties, we prepare to rush the punt on the third attempt.
