Javaris Murray gets tripped up after he almost breaks the second half kickoff. He got 42 yards to the SSU 45 yardline.
A lot of the starters got to sit out the second half. Some of the defensive starters did play, especially in the secondary, since we have some injuries there. Qb Beau Lasseigne looks over the defense before the first snap.
Beau rolls out and completes a pass to Richard Conner for 11 yards.
We fumble the ball to them. SSU then goes 3 and out and punts to us. We drive the ball down the field behind some Javaris Murray runs, a Beau Lasseigne run, and a big 16 yard catch by Chris Royal on a 4th and 9 with a roughing the passer penalty tacked on it. It was 1st and goal on the 10 yard line. Elrick Jones got the ball twice. He got 6 yards on the first carry and got the final 4 yards on the second carry for the TD. After the PAT the score is 49-0.
And the Band played Jolie Blonde!!
SSU gets one first down on its next possession. On 1st and 10 on their 39 yard line, LB Kentrell Butler intecepts a pass and returns it all the way for the TD. His only mistake was diving into the endzone with nobody near him drawing a flag for excessive celebration. I bet he won't do that again. Or he better not when a game is on the line.
The cheerleaders celebrate by running the flags again. And the roar of the cannon was...................missing!! After that TD and PAT the score was 56-0.
We force SSU to punt again at the start of the 4th quarter. Champlain Babin returns the punt 39 yards to the SSU34.
We start running up the middle with Champlain Babin and backup FB Evan Laiche. We get the ball down to the SSU 13 before we turn it over on downs. SSU gets one first down and then has to punt. We get the ball on the McNeese 36 and give the ball a couple of times to Javaris Murray and FB Kurt Reeves. With 2nd and 8 on the SSU 44, Javaris Murray goes through a big hole in the line and almost breaks it. The last guy makes a diving shoestring tackle.
After that near score and with the ball on the SSU 12, we returned to giving the ball up the middle to Evan Laiche until we turned the ball over on downs at the 4 yard line.
With 21 seconds left, SSU runs two plays. Below, LB Kegan Myers makes a tackle that ends the game as time runs out.

The two teams, coaches, managers, cheerleaders, etc. gather at midfield for a post game prayer.
After that the players go over to the Band Stand to thank the Band and the Band plays the McNeese Alma Mater.
Then, since the fans can't come on the field for 10 minutes, a lot of the players went to the grandstands to visit with fans and family.
