Javaris Murray returns the opening kickoff.
Chad Davis gets 12 yards and a 1st down after a catch.
Our drive stalls at the SLU 25 and Josh Lewis comes in and kicks a 43 yard field goal.
The kickoff coverage team does their swaying huddle routine before the following kickoff.
Malcolm Bronson puts a big hit on SLU Wr Merrick Lanaux. I think this knocked out Lanaux for the game. Lanaux is the brother to former McNeese TE Hynson Lanaux. On this same play LB Geremy Pilate also put a big hit on SLU Qb Brian Babin knocking him out for a few plays.
SLU had to punt. On the first play after the punt, Champlain Babin gets short yardage on first down.
TE Wes Mangan gets 6 yards on a catch.
A couple of plays later, we fumble the ball and SLU recovers on the McNeese 29 yard line.
SLU gets it down to the McNeese 2 yard line in three plays. On the 4th play, Geremy Pilate sacks the SLU QB causing a fumble that is recovered by Desmund Lighten on the McNeese 33.
After the fumble recovery, Champlain Babin gets 27 yards to the SLU 40 on the first play.
On the next play, Derrick Fourroux goes deep to TE Corday Clark, who catches the ball and dives into the endzone for a 40 yard TD. With the PAT, the scores is now 10-0.
LB Joe Narcisse tackles a SLU Rb for a one yard loss.
On the very next play, Ford Smesny steps in front of a SLU Wr to intercept a pass, giving us the ball on the SLU 31 yard line.
After a couple of Champlain Babin five yard runs, Derrick throws a pass on 1st and 10 on the SLU 21.
Wes Mangan catches the pass and gets 7 yards to the SLU 14 yard line.
About four plays later after the 2nd quarter started, we have the ball 2nd and 8 on the SLU 9. Derrick completes a pass to Wes Mangan and Wes gets the ball into the corner of the endzone for the TD. After the PAT, the score is now 17-0.
And the cannon.......uh......wait.......doesn't go off.
And the Band plays "Jolie Blonde". At least, that still happens.
