2009 Spring Game Pictures, Page 1

One of the first things I noticed when entering Cowboy Stadium was this new horse and rider statue temporarily placed by the Northwest gate. I've heard rumors, if I remember correctly, that when the Fieldhouse Project is finished, the stadium will have new entryways with decorative cast iron fences. The statue will then be played on a permenant pedestal somewhere inside the stadium.

The Spring Game was very well organized this year with a lot of different things to offer before and after the game. In the North end of the stadium, there was a Kid Zone setup to entertain the kids.

When I was taking these pictures, I heard someone calling to me. It was Micah and Anna. They were dressing out as cheerleaders for the last time and wanted their picture taken together.

Along with the cheerleaders, Rowdy was also there.

The Captains for both the Blue and Gold teams meet at midfield for the coin toss.

Head Coach Matt Viator talks to all of the players before the game and then the team has a pregame prayer.

The Gold team got the ball on offense first. Even though there was a lot of offense in the scrimmage, Terrance Freeman got the defense started by registering one of his three quarterback sacks on the first play of the scrimmage.

Derrick Fourroux was the starting QB for the White team. Below, he looks over things before a snap.

Elrick Jones runs early in the scrimmage. Elrick started for the White team and had a good night getting 65 yards on 14 carries.

TE Corday Clark pulls in a pass. Corday had a good night with 5 catches for 77 yards and 2 touchdowns.

After the Gold team had to turn the ball over, DT Justin Breaux and WS Darrell Jenkins stop RB Todd Pendland for a loss of 4 yards on the Blue team's first play.

Four plays later, Blue QB Beau Lasseigne hits Bernardo Henry for a 49 yard catch and run for the game's first touchdown.

Qb Derrick Fourroux stretches for extra yardage on a run during Gold's second possession.

FS Brandon Robinson got in one of the best hits of the scrimmage by stopping Derrick Fourroux in his tracks with this one on one tackle when Derrick broke through into the secondary on a run.

Right before the end of the first quarter, Elrick Jones gets 20 yards down to the Blue 10 yard line on this run.

After the teams changed ends of the field and after a holding penalty on the Gold team, Blue FS Brandon Robinson ends the Gold drive by pulling in this tipped pass with one hand for the game's only pass interception.

The Blue team didn't do much with the ball. When the Gold team got the ball back, a few players who were playing for both teams got into the game. Below, Zack Fourroux rolls out and turns to look to throw the ball.

The only problem was that when he turned around and looked all he saw was Terrance Freeman who got his second sack of the game.
