After the kickoff the defense makes a few plays.
They have to punt after one first down. Instead of going into the endzone, the ball hits the back of one of the cover men (the snake bites again) and is downed on our 2 yardline. Matt talks to the offense in the TV timeout between possessions.

Derrick awaits a snap standing in the endzone. Derrick gets stop for no gain on first down. Babin gets 2 yards on second down. On 3rd down, Derrick throws a pass that would be intercepted but we get called for holding in the endzone for an automatic safety. More snake venom. The score is now 6-16.
The defense does its job and holds SFA to 3 and out and we get the ball back on our 20. Immanuel Friddle gets 3 yards on a pass completion and gets his ankle or something twisted. John Leday comes in for him and gets 11 yards and a first down at the McNeese 34. Then Chris Royal gets 6 yards on this pass completion and run.
The ball on the SFA 40, we get 13 yards on a pass completion to Wes Mangan. And the rushes 16 yards down to the SFA 31. He then throws a short pass in the flat to Champlain Babin, who fakes people out, runs over another one, and finally dives in the endzone on a great catch and run. The score is now 13-16 with 6 minutes left.
After one first down, the defense holds and we get the ball back on our one yard line with 4:20 left. After some Champlain Babin runs, a Babin catch, and a Chris Royal pass reception, we have moved the ball to the our 25 yard line. After an incompletion, another catch for a loss of three yards, and a catch by Magan for 12 yards, we have it 4th and 1 on our 34. Derrick gets 8 yards on this carry for a first down.
A couple of plays later, Friddle, who is back in the game from his leg/ankle twisting, catches a pass for 12 yards and a first down on the SFA 43.
A couple of plays later, Derrick runs the ball and gets hit right on the ball. He fumbles and SFA recovers with only 50 seconds left on the clock. The snake bites for one last time.
SFA kneels three times and we use our timeouts. On 4th down with a little less than 2 seconds on the clock, the SFA QB takes the snap and runs backward to run out the time.
