After the punt, Joe Narcisse and numerous other Cowboys stop the Sam RB for a 1 yard gain.
On second down, Seth Thomas gets a 10 yard sack.
They eventually have to punt. On the first play from our 41, Derrick throws this pass.
John Leday pulls it in, breaks a tackle, and then goes 51 yards up the sideline before he is brought down at the Sam 8 yard line.
On the next play, Todd Pendland slashes between some good blocks for an 8 yard TD run.
The line blocks as Josh Lewis hits the PAT right down the middle. The score is now 21-14.
On their next possession, Sam goes 3 and out and has to punt the ball back to us. Champlain Babin comes in at RB. Below, he gets good yardage on a run.
We have the ball, 3rd and goal on the Sam 9 yardline about three plays later. Derrick then hits a wideopen Chad Davis in the back of the endzone for the TD. After the PAT, the score is 28-14.

Sam gets the ball one last time before the half with 3:44 on the clock. I was hoping not to see a repeat of what happened before the half in the SLU game. Below, Malcolm Bronson and others make a tackle.
After one first down, we forced them to punt and the half ended with us up 28-14. The Band came onto the field and performed a brand new show. Below, a few pictures of the Band.
While the Band was performing, a group of young cheerleaders from a cheerleader training "school" were lining up to prepare to perform after the Band. I had taken a seat on the bench to rest my feet and legs. They had some of the very youngest ones lined up in front of me. This one little girl right in front of me was a little live wire. She never stopped moving dancing to the Band's music while the Kickers were performing. I decided to take a picture of her. As soon as she saw the camera, she started posing. I think we have a natural future McNeese Cheerleader or Cowgirl Kicker, here. :-)

Sam received the ball to start the second half. On their 3rd play, they fumbled the ball and it was recovered by Geremy Pilate on the Sam 43 yard line. On the first play, Richard Conner takes the hand off on the end around play. He goes around the left side 43 yards for the TD. This makes the score 35-14
Sam Houston gets the ball and goes 80 yards in 9 plays to make the score 35-21. We need to answer. On our next possession we get a pass completion to Richard Conner for 17 yards and a 1st down. After a false start penalty and a sack, we have it 2nd and 18 on our 35 yardline. On the next play, Derrick takes the ball up the middle, cuts to the left sideline, and gets 36 yards before he is run out of bounds.
