Derrick scrambles on a 3rd and 8 play but gets no yardage.
We are forced to try a 41 yard field goal. Freshman Kicker Josh Lewis tries the first FG of his career but it is slightly wide left.
Play was stopped while FB Ben Bourgeios was taken on a cart to the ambulance. He was injured on a head to head tackle on the opening kickoff of the second half. I heard he had a compressive fracture of a vertebra but can't be sure of the veracity of that information. I hope that he is doing okay and heals with no problems.
DB Brandon Robinson makes a tackle on a Reddie runningback.

As you can see from the scoreboard in this picture, the PAT makes the score 6-24 with 6:19 left in the 3rd quarter and things are starting to look a little bleak.
Todd Pendland returns the following kickoff.
Derrick throws a short pass to Todd that ends up gaining 16 yards.
On a 2nd and 16 play after a 6 yard sack, Derrick goes 23 yards for a first down on this run.
Todd gets four yards on this run.
After a 11 yard pass to Chad Davis and a 15 yard pass to Brandon Broussard gets the ball down to the one yard line, a wide open Wes Mangan catches this pass for a TD.
We go for 2 points but come up a little short and the score is now 12-24.
The Band plays "Jolie Blonde" after the TD.
And the cheerleaders run the flags.
After the kickoff, the defense steps up. These two photos almost look like the same play but they are photos of the first two plays of the possession. The first one was a two yard gain and the second was a two yard loss. Nick Toti, Brandon Robinson, and the play by play says Kentrell Butler are on both tackles.
