Email me and let me know what you think.
Friday, January 21, 2011, Dennis Thibodeaux and I met Assistant A. D. Ryan Ivey and took a tour of the construction of the inside of the new Field House. It is very early in the construction of the inside so everything is pretty raw but you can see how all the rooms and offices are laid out. Construction is supposed to be completed in June of this year, so we plan to go back in about three month (which should be about the halfway point) to take more pictures to show the progress. And, of course, we will do it again when it is completed. Even with everything inside being a little raw, the size of it is impressive.
Before meeting Ryan and Dennis, I went down on the field and took this picture of the south side of the Field House from the south endzone of the playing field.

We entered the building from the front entrance. A couple of shots of the front entrance.

On the left side of the front entrance area, there will be four ticket windows that open up into the ticket office. There are also some ticket windows that open up into the lobby area.

A shot of about half of the ticket office. On the left is the windows that open up into the lobby area. On the very right of the picture, you can barely make out the doorcase of the door that opens up into Nathan's private office. Behind me and not in the picture is the other half of the office where the vault is located.

There are four halls that go off of the center of the building. The northeast and northwest halls have administrative offices both sides of them. Below, a shot down the Northeast hall.

At the end of that hall, on the very Northeast corner of the building is a larger room that will be an academic center for tutoring students. It will have a glass wall.

On either side of the the northwest hall will be team meeting rooms. On the left side (south side), it is mainly position meeting rooms. On the right side, there are two larger rooms that the whole defense and offense can meet at one time. Below, one of the larger meeting rooms. The coaches will have the ability to send electronic media (video or whatever) to viewing screens of any of the meeting rooms from the computers in their offices on the second floor.

The very end of the hall opens up into a large full team meeting room. It is where the old weight room was located. You can see the stripes that were on the wall of the weight room in the picture.

On the West end of the building in an area of new construction is the weight room. The weight room is huge!!!! I took two pictures of it but I don't know if you can sense how large it is from the pictures.

Going back down the southwest hall toward the center of the building, on the right you first come to a large room that will be the equipment room. As you can see in the pictures, it also has an overhead loft. It is very large for an equipment room.

The next room on the right is a very large room which will be the locker room. Below, two shots of the locker room.

Right past the locker room there is a door to the outside that opens up a patio/plaza area. This were the team will exit to go down and enter the field. A couple of shots of this area. On the wall that is to the left of the second picture (but not shown), there will a number of drinking fountains. Also, in this area, the plaza bricks will be reintalled.

Next, we went to the center of the building and went up a stairwell to the second floor. There are also two elevator shafts in the center where two elevators will be installed. They open up into a large room in the center of the second floor. On each end of the room there is a hallway. On the southside of each hall will be coaches' offices with a picture window view of the stadium and field. On the northside side of the halls will be meeting rooms, video rooms, and one room to meet recruits and their parents. A shot looking to the hall on the West side of the center room .

Outside of the large center room, is an area where some stadium seating will be installed.

The view of the stadium and the field from the center of that seating area.

Below, a shot from the very east side of the center second floor room looking back to the west.

Matt's office will located in the very southwest corner of the second floor. He has a nice spacious office with a private bath. Below, a shot of the view of the field from what will be Matt's window.

Below, a shot looking out towards the main entrance on the second floor. There will be a small lobby area on the left just inside the front doors. On the area to the left, just across from the four ticket windows, will be a hall of fame room with glass walls and two doors.

A shot of our tour guide, Ryan Ivey, in his office in the old apartments north of the stadium. I plan on taking another picture of him in his new office after the Field House construction is completed.

Not much to see right now except what the floorplan will be. Dennis and I plan to take some more pictures in about three months to show the progress of the work inside.
That's all for now.
