Jace throws out a runner after fielding a ground ball to end the 6th inning.
Matt Fontenot gets an infield single to third base.
Matt dives back into first base during a pickoff try.
Tony Coniglio hits a fly ball to right field to end the inning.
Lee Orr catches a low line drive for the first out in the 7th inning.
After giving up a walk, Jaden throws a pickoff throw to first base to hold the runner close.
Jaden gets the next batter to hit a sharp ground ball to the left of 2nd base. Matt Fontenot catches it, steps on 2nd, and throws to first to complete an inning ending double play.
We didn't score in the bottom of the 7th and Valpo got one run to make the score 1-6 going into the bottom of 8th inning. After two outs, Matt Fontenot was hit by a pitch. Bryn Thompson struck out but got on when the ball got by the catcher. Tony Coniglio singled to third base to load the bases with two outs. And then Andy Riche' hit this pitch down the right field line for a bases clearing triple.
Valpo then brought in a new pitcher.
Blake Ellender then hits this pitch into left center............
.......which scores Andy Riche' from 3rd base. This made the score 5-6 going into the 9th inning.
In the 9th, after the first batter lines out to shortstop, Matt Fontenot fields a ground ball and throws to first for the 2nd out.
After a Valpo batter gets on by an error, Jaden Dillion is still battling hard.
He gets the last out in the 9th, when the Valpo batter flies out to Andy Riche' in left field.
In bottom of the 9th, Jace Peterson gets a single up the middle. Lee Orr follows with a hard ground ball on this swing. The second baseman knocks it down and manages to throw Lee out at first but Jace makes it to second.
Seth Granger gets on when he gets hit by this pitch.
Mace Hebert was put in to pinch run for Seth Granger. Then Matt Fontenot hit this pitch down the left field line for a double. Both Jace Peterson and Mace Hebert came around to score the winning runs.
This set off a wild celebration at home plate which then was cutoff, when the left fielder claimed the ball got caught under the fence even though he retrieved and threw it back in.
But this celebration then started again and centered on Matt Fontenot, when the umpires ruled that the runs scored.
