After doing my yardwork as fast as I could Sunday morning (thanks to the rain Saturday) I got out to Cowboy Diamond a little late for the start of the first game. It was already in the second inning of the first game of the doubleheader when I arrive. We already had a 1-0 lead due to a Shon Landry homerun. At one time we were behind 3-1 but the team fought back and finally tied the game at 4 to 4 in the bottom of the ninth inning. We got runners in scoring positon several times in extra innings but just couldn't get them in. Finally in bottom of the 13th inning, Chris Coover singled to right centerfield to drive in Bryan Cartie with the winning run.

After there was some debate whether we would be able to play the second game of the doubleheader because it would start after 4pm due to the length of the extra inning first game, the game was finally started at 4:15. We wanted to play the game very badly because Lamar had already lost their game with Northwestern St. and a win would mean we would take over first place in the Southland Conference standings. The game was evenly played through the first half of the game but we finally wore the Lions down and they finally blinked in the sixth and seventh innings and we took a commanding 8-1 lead on the basis of good offense and SLU mistakes. We finally won the game 9-1 to get the series sweep of SLU.
