We get out of the top of the second without giving up a run. In our half, Nick Eubanks fights off an inside pitch and bloops a single to right center.

A lineout and a double play end the second and the score is still 1-0. In the top of the 3rd, the first HBU batter leads off with a long fly to right field. It tails off and Lee Orr makes the first of several good catches during the day in foul ground near the warning track.

They get no runs and Josh Cholley starts our half of the third with a single to centerfield on this swing.

Cholley stole 2nd and then advanced to 3rd on a balk. And then Sam Merrill singles to center on this field to score Cholley.

Merill was out at second trying to stretch the single into a double. Irvine flied out, and then Shon Landry hits this ball deep to left center for a triple. But he was stranded there when a ground ball ended the inning. After three, it was 2-0 McNeese.

In the top of the 4th, the first HBU batter flied out. The second hit a double to left center. The third blooped a ball to right field. I followed second baseman Matt Fontonet out into right field with my camera ready take a picture if he dived for the ball but he never dived. But rightfielder Lee Orr made a great diving catch that I totally missed. He then threw to second to double off the HBU baserunner.

Below, Lee gets congratulated by his teammates as he comes back to the dugout.

Leading off our fourth, Nick Eubanks connects with this low pitch to hit a ground ball back up the middle for a single.

Below, Nick dives back to first on a pickoff try.

After Nick, Ryan Brauninger then drew a walk. And then Matt Fontenot lays down a good sacrifice bunt to advance then to 2nd and 3rd.

And then Josh Cholley drives a single to left center on this pitch to score both of them.

This caused a conference on the mound and pitching change by HBU.

After a strikeout, Josh beats the throw to second on this steal attempt. But he was stranded on second and the inning ends with McNeese ahead 4-0.

In the HBU 5th, there was a walk, a strikeout, then a hit batsman putting runners on 1st and 2nd with one out. The next batter hit a slow ground ball to Nick Eubanks at first. Nick wisely fielded the ball and tossed it to pitcher Jonathan Conrad covering first to get the second out.

With a runner on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs, the next HBU batter hit a ground ball to Matt Fontenot at 2nd base to end the inning.

In our half of the 5th, Landry flied out ot center. Then Taylor Freeman singled to right field. Then Lee Orr hits this pitch to right center for a double.

Taylor came around all the way from first to try to score. He slid around past the plate and then reached back to touch it as the HBU catcher tried to apply the tag. The ump initially called him out and then changed it to safe. I didn't see why. I don't know if the catcher momentarily lost possession of the ball or tag him with an empty glove. Don't know why the call changed.
